Jamshoro: The senior Academicians of University of Sindh (SU) have strongly condemned the assassination of Prof. Bashir Ahmed Channar and fully supported the steps taken by the Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr. Nazir Ahmed Mughal to the grieved family of the professor and his efforts for the arrest of involved culprits for awarding them examplenary punishment.
In a joint statement issued by the Pro Vice Chancellors of the Campuses, Deans of the Faculties, Directors, Chairpersons and Faculty members expressed their solidarity with the Vice Chancellor and making continuous efforts to pursue the higher authorities for apprehension of culprits.
The University academia said that Prof. Channer was a brave man who sacrificed his life for cause of education and his services will be remembered in golden words in the history of the Country.
The University appreciated the Vice Chancellor who announced immediate relief for the grieved which includes naming the Institutes of Microbiology as Shaheed Prof. Bashir Ahmed Channer Institute of Microbiology, jobs for his children, allotment of house in the name of his widow, full tuition waver to two daughters studying in the University up to completion of University degree, Gold Medal in forthcoming Convocation in recognition of bravery services, financial assistance, sending citation for act of bravery of Prof. Channer to the Government of Pakistan through Government of Sindh for Civil award on March,23 or August 14,2012.
