Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to use Umpires Decision Review System in the Test and One-Day International (ODI) series against England next month.
PCB chief operating officer Subhan Ahmed has said “we have obtained sponsorship due to which the UDRS will be applied during the Test and ODI series against England”.
He further said the England and Wales Cricket Board had also supported the use of the system in the coming series.
Subhan said Pepsi had agreed to sponsor the use of the system which would cost roughly around $5000 per match.
“We believe that the system is a value addition to the sport and has helped in reducing errors in the game and assisting the umpires in making the right decisions,” he added.
Pakistan also used the UDRS in their recent ODI series against Sri Lanka in the United Arab Emirates. Pakistan plays three Tests starting from January 17 and than an ODI series against England in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
