Islamabad: US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter called on Interior Minister Rehman Malik and discussed with him issues of mutual interest, said a statement issued here on Wednesday.
Sources said that both the leaders also exchanged views regarding memogate scandal and action against Mansoor Ijaz. They said that the meeting took place at Malik’s residence.
The sources said Malik demanded action against Ijaz who levelled serious allegations against Pakistan’s government.
Foreign Policy Magazine claimed that President Zardari was under severe pressure due to the memogate controversy and could resign on health grounds as he is undergoing medical tests in Dubai. However, the presidential spokesman denies the report, saying the president’s medical check-up was preplanned and he would return Pakistan soon.
