DUHS organizes press briefing over free plastic surgery camp

Karachi: Dow University of Health Sciences in collaboration with House of Charity and Children’s Fund International organized a press briefing by foreign plastic surgeons for organizing free plastic surgery camp in collaboration with DUHS at Ojha Campus of Dow University.

The Camp has been organized by Dow University in collaboration with House of Charity and Children’s Fund International for free plastic surgeries from November 22 till December 2.

The aim of the Camp was to serve the poor patients of society focusing on congenital anomalies including cleft lip and palate and burn patients suffering contractures after acid burn or otherwise.

During the Camp, team of international plastic surgeons led by world renowned plastic Surgeon, Prof. Dr. Joseph Agris along with Dow University Plastic Surgeons after screening selected fifty patients for free surgeries.

Dr. Muhammad Masroor, Principal, Dow Intertional Medical College in his welcome address briefed about the overview of the Workshop. He said that it was a multi-dimensional program including surgeries and academic programs of Workshop and scientific session.

Prof. Dr. Rana Qamar Masood, coordinator free plastic surgery camp sharing her views appreciated the efforts. There are so many patients on whom surgeries are being done are benefited a lot from this Workshop.

Dr. Joseph Agris in his address stressed on banning easily sale of acid from the markets. He said people should be restricted from easy access of acid and related product. Sharing about experience during the Workshop, he said that the collaboration with the Dow University’s plastic surgeon was wonderful.

Mrs. Hashmat Effendi briefed about the aims and objectives of the House of Charity and Children’s Fund International. He also informed about the establishment of a University like DUHS. She also announced to include DUHS faculty in their health service activities.

Later, Dr. Sadia Sadaf presented the progress report pictorial glimpses of the Workshop, camp and peformed surgeries.
