Islamabad: Pakistan has refused the United Arab Emirates request to review on decision regarding evacuation of Shamsi airbase from United States.
According to sources on Monday, UAE’s foreign minister called on President Asif Ali Zardari and requested Islamabad to review the decision about evacuation of Shamsi airbase from United States.
They added that president Zardari refused UAE request and said that they could not change the decision. “It is a matter of Pakistan’s sovereignty and I cannot change the decision taken by Defence Committee of Cabinet,” the sources quoted president Zardari as replying.
At least 26 Pakistani soldiers, including two officers were killed and over dozen injured in Nato attack on a Pakistani checkposts near Afghan border on Saturday.
Pakistan’s Defence Cabinet Committee on Saturday decided to close the NATO supply in Afghanistan with immediate effect asked US to vacate Shamsi Airbase within 15 days.
