Beijing: China has now become the world’s largest smartphone market by volume during the third quarter after overtook the U.S., a research report by Strategy Analytics shows.
A research report by Strategy Analytics shows that smartphone shipments grew 58 percent to reach a record 23.9 million units in China during the quarter, while U.S. shipments fell 7 percent from the second quarter to reach 23.3 million devices.
Nokia leads the smartphone market with a 28% share in China, followed by Samsung with a 17.6% share. HTC is the top maker in the U.S. with 24% market share, followed by Apple with just over 20%, according to the report. The U.S. still leads the world in smartphone sales by revenue, the authors of the report note.
