ISI provided protection to Osama, says book

Washington: Pakistan’s spy agency Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) was aware of al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden’s hideout in Abbottabad, northern city of Pakistan, a new book says.

Chuck Pfarrer, a former SEAL, has claimed in his latest book “Seal Targeted Geronimo” that the ISI officials provided protection and safe houses to Osama’s then deputy Ayman al-Zawahiri.

He wrote in his book that the officials of Pakistan’s spy agency periodically checked on bin Laden also.

Pfarrer says his account in the book is based on his interviews and interactions with members of the SEALs team that killed the al-Qaeda leader and the US military and Obama Administration officials.

The writer kept all the sources anonymous.

It is pertinent to mention here that Obama administration and the CIA officials have so far maintained that they did not get any evidence of ISI having any knowledge about Osama Bin Laden’s hideout.
