Prince Nayef nominated as new Crown Prince of KSA

Riyadh: Following the death of former heir of King Abdullah of Saudi Arab, Interior Minister Prince Nayef has been nominated as new Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

King Abdullah announced the decision of state-run television.

He said the decision has been taken after meeting with the Allegiance Council, a family body set up in 2006 to make the process of succession in the Islamic kingdom smoother and more orderly.

It is pertinent to mention here that he will also remain the interior minister of Saudi Arabia till anyone takes charge of the ministry.

Former Saudi Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdul Azin al-Saud, 80, died in New York of colon cancer on last Saturday.
