Mogadishu: Somalia’s al-Qaeda affiliated Islamic insurgent group al-Shabaab has warned Kenya of dire consequences if they did not end operation and withdraw military from southern Somalia with immediate effect.
“We say to Kenya: Did you consider the consequences of the invasion? We know fighting more than you and defeated other invaders before,” Sheikh Rage told reporters in a town south of Mogadishu.
“Your attack to us means your skyscrapers will be destroyed, your tourism will disappear. We shall inflict on you the same damage you inflicted on us. You have to see what happened to the other aggressors, like (Uganda President Yoweri) Museveni and his country when they invaded us. We hit them in their country.”
Kenya on Sunday declared war against a the group and its army stepped up into southern Somalia to pursue al-Shabaab, which it blames for a series of kidnappings inside its territory.
