Mogadishu: A US unmanned drone has crashed near a military facility in southern Somalia, killing at least five government soldiers and wounding 13 others, military officials said.
Somali military officials said the drone went down on Monday near a military base on the outskirts of Dhobley town in Juba province, Press TV reported.
Earlier, 27 civilians, mostly children, lost their lives in a US drone strike in the southern town of Kismayo, a key asset of the al-Shabaab group, which has been fighting the country’s interim government for years.
Hundreds of Somalis have been killed in the airstrikes, which have compelled many others to flee their homes, fearing for their lives.
