Kabul: Gunfire and explosions rocked the CIA building in Kabul using by 20 countries’ troops, as official confirmed the incident.
Afghan authorities informed that the incident occurred near presidential palace at 9:15pm.
It was unclear whether anyone was killed or hurt.
The authorities said that shots were heard around the former Ariana Hotel just blocks from the Afghan presidential palace. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to disclose any information.
The CIA occupied the heavily secured building in late 2001 after the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan, which toppled the Taliban.
The U.S. Embassy declined to comment on the incident.
Officials at the U.S.-led coalition headquarters nearby said they heard gunfire, but did not have details about the incident.
