Kabul: Even today, ten years after 9/11, 92 percent Afghanis remain unaware of the attacks on Twin Towers although Afghanistan has been facing the consequences of the attacks, a survey has revealed. Helmand is the province which has been the worst hit in the war between Taliban and the United States, but few of its people are aware of the attacks. When pictures of the attacks were shown to some youngsters, they expressed ignorance. The elders took interest in the pictures because of the smoke, but they were astonished when they were told about the attacks. They said Afghanistan doesn’t even have donkeys. How Afghans can attack American buildings by hijacking planes, they said.
They said Americans claim that they are here to help us. “They lost only two buildings and how much have we lost!” said one elder.
They blame the Americans for the war.
It was found that many of the translators and interpreters working with the foreign forces are, too, unaware of the attacks.
Similar is the case with Afghan police officials.
