The News Tribe: Share something about your bio?
Seventeen Sisters is comprised of the five Scarbrough sisters (yes, they are real sisters!): Sarah, Gracie, Angel, Faith, and Hannah. Taking inspiration from the greats old and new mixed with their own innovative style, Seventeen Sisters is an infusion of edgy driving rock and soul, with a slight touch of pop.
Seventeen Sisters is a force that leaves you with a lasting impression and wanting more and more! Playing what they term “eclectic rock”, Seventeen Sisters presents a new brand of rock. Combining strong female vocals and sibling harmonies, with driving rock instrumentals. Their rhythm section is right on and their guitars are soaring!!
The band is very passionate about rock music. They are about rebellion, rebelling against status qous, poverty, hunger, social and environmental injustices, racial profiling, effects of war, etc. The Sisters use their music to rebel against these injustices and inspire people to revel in hope, peace, and justice. Seventeen Sisters wants to show that people can change not only themselves in a positive direction, but the world in which we all live in. They believe in entertaining while impacting the world for the better!
The Tribe Tribe: What is the most enjoyable performance you have ever experienced and where?
I guess this would not so much be our most enjoyable, but really more of our most memorable performance. It was in our early years of performing at a fair in upstate New York. We performed at the same fair every summer, and every show the same young man would show up.
There was a young man with a physical disability, he loved us and our show. One year he didn’t show up, we kept looking for him but he never came. Finally right before our last set of the last day his mother approached us. With tears in her eyes she told us that her son had been been brutally beaten after the fair the year before and died shortly after. But before he passed away he asked her to bury him with the signed picture of us. He also asked her to come back and tell us how much he loved us and and that he had found his true love in us girls.
That single act of love touched our hearts so deeply. It reminded us how powerful music is, and what a responsibility it is to treat every single person with love and respect. Our care and time is the greatest gift we can give anyone. -Sarah
The Tribe Tribe: How do you feel when meet fans or give autographs?
We feel very honored! We love meeting all of our fans, talking with them and signing autographs!!!! We really appreciate their love and support!! They are the reason we do what we do!!! -Angel
The Tribe Tribe: How did you enter into this musical world?
We started out when we were really young. I was 9 yrs old when I first started singing. As my sisters grew old enough to sing I started recruiting them for the different music projects I was involved it. We started our first group ”The Lady Bugs” when Faith was only 9 yrs old. Within our 2nd year as The Lady Bugs we were touring across the country at special events, fairs, festivals, etc., entertaining families and children. As The Lady Bugs we wrote and performed our own songs as well as covers of audience favorites. It was always our dream to start our own original rock band, and things finally aligned for us to start up Seventeen Sisters in January of 2010. -Sarah
The Tribe Tribe: Ten years from now you will be …?
I would like to see myself at the top of the music chats, touring the world bringing the love of music to everyone everywhere. Having a non-profit organization that helps people going though injustice situations. Oh….and married to the actor Alex Pettyfer!! lol -Hannah
The Tribe Tribe: What difficulties have you people faced in your career as female stars?
I think there are different standards for female artist than male. Female rockers are not taken as seriously as male rockers. Male artist are respected for their music and talent, where as most female artist are based off their beauty and appeal not for their talent. We want to be noted for our talent and prove that you can be feminine and soft but still rock hard. -Angel
The Tribe Tribe: Had any crush ever on any celebrity?
Oh yes!! I LOVE Bruno Mars!! In fact I’m pretty certain he wrote the song ”Talking to the Moon” about me! -Faith
The Tribe Tribe: Any special secret behind beauty and smart body?
Good genes as our Grandma says! lol We try to live a healthy lifestyle by going for walks/runs every day and eat healthy….well sometimes at least Also I believe that beauty isn’t just the state of your body but also of your mind and heart as well. Our mom always told us ”Pretty is, as pretty does”. -Angel
The Tribe Tribe: When is your next album coming in market and could you share something about it?

The Tribe Tribe: I often saw you in Eastern dresses like “sari’s” etc, do you like them?
I love wearing Eastern dresses!! I love all the very intricate details, and the use of many beautiful colors and the styles!! I’m also a huge fan of eastern jewelry, especially the bangles!! When we make a trip East we’re just going to bring empty suite cases and fill them up with all the things we buy!! -Gracie
The Tribe Tribe: Have you any plan to visit Pakistan with your band?
We would absolutely love to visit Pakistan with the band!! We have friends who live in Pakistan and they are always asking when we will be performing there. One of our goals is to take our music to as many countries as possible, and Pakistan is definitely on the list!! That is the amazing thing about music, it transcends all languages, distances, culture, etc., and unites us to a common cause. -Sarah
The Tribe Tribe: Which is your own favorite song and why?
I would have to say my favorite song of ours is ”Chocolate”! It’s a energizing and rocking song. The kind of song you would want to put on and just rock out to!!! -Hannah
The Tribe Tribe: Any advice for upcoming female singers?
Always believe in who you are and the great things you are capable of accomplishing. No matter what, always trust God and yourself. If you believe, have faith, work hard, and never give up, you can accomplish all of your dreams!!! Never compare yourself to anyone else, be the very best YOU! Also, learn everything you can about the business side of this industry, knowledge is power!! -Gracie
