Tripoli: Libyan rebels have transferred their capital from Tripoli from their base in Benghazi, a senior official of the National Transitional Council (NTC) announced Friday.
“I declare the beginning and assumption of the executive committee’s work in Tripoli,” committee vice-chairman Ali Tahuni told a press conference. “Long live democratic and constitutional Libya and glory to our martyrs.”
Rebels have captured Tripoli but intensified battle between forces loyal Libyan strongman Muammar Gaddafi and NATO funded rebels are continued. Thousands of people from both sides have been killed in the at least six month long civil war that has now near to its logical end with rebels victory.
