Muzaffar Garh: At least twelve NATO oil tankers, three containers and a car were set ablaze in two separate incidents on Monday.
The latest incident was occurred on Mianwali Road near Chowk Server Shaheed in Muzaffar Garh District of Pakistan’s most populated province of Punjab.
Rescue sources and eye witnesses unidentified armed miscreants opened indiscriminate firing on the oil tankers carrying fuel for NATO forces in Afghanistan and fled. As a result, seven tankers caught fire.
Fire tenders from Kot Addu, Layya and KAPCO have started rescue operation to extinguish the fire.
Another incident took place in Khyber Agency’s Landi Kotal area on Monday when explosion occurred in one of the oil tankers on the Pak-Afghan highway, resulting in five vehicles including two NATO tanker, three containers and a car caught fire. Fire fighters reached the site, evacuated the area and shifted other vehicles to a secure location to prevent further damage.
The blast occurred during Iftari time while drivers were breaking fast at a local hotel nearby. There were no casualties or injuries reported.
Earlier more than a dozen NATO tankers had caught fire following a blast in a container terminal in the Ring Road area late on Saturday.
