Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday accepted an application, seeking to prevent government from making new provinces in the country, for hearing and sought a reply from Attorney General Pakistan and advocate general Punjab.
Lawyer Malik Naeem Advocate in his application stated that the Constitution did not allow formation of new provinces. He noted that new legislation should be made for the purpose. He said that establishment of new provinces would weaken Pakistan.
The application further noted that the issue of new provinces was being exploited by the politicians to hide the problems, facing the country. He prayed that stay order be issued in this regard.
However, the court, accepting the application for hearing, issued notices to the attorney general and advocate general Punjab for the second week of next month.
