Karachi: Following the Saturday’s strike call given by Sindh’s nationalist against the restoration of local government system, up to dozen vehicles have been torched in Sindh including one mini-bus packed with passenger in Karachi.
According to preliminary reports, unidentified men set the minibus– filled with passengers — on fire near Tower on Keamari Road, burning one passenger alive and several others were received burn injuries, The News Tribe correspondent reported.
Fire tenders have been called on the spot and rescue workers have started extinguishing fire. While the injured were rushed to Burns Hospital Karachi for treatment.
Three others buses were also torched in different parts of Karachi including NIPA Chowrangi, Ghakkar Pathak, Orangi Town, while one van on Mai Kolachi Road.
Two people were gunned down in Saddar and Mobina Town areas and several others were received injuries in different shooting incidents.
Aerial firing incident were also reported in various parts of the metropolis including Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Abul Asphani Road, Nazimabad, Hasan Square, Shah Faisal Colony, Pahalwan Goth, Sohrab Goth and Malir, generated panic and fear among masses and forcing them to stay inside their houses.
On the other hand, Additional Inspector General Police Sindh Saud Mirza has said that several suspects have been arrested during a search operation in Saddar area of Karachi while police have also recovered arms from their possession.
Interior Sindh Situation:
In Hyderabad several vehicles including a bus of Liaquat Medical University were gutted. And aerial firing incidents were also reported in different parts of Hyderabad.
Arson and firing incidents were also reported in Larkana, Sukkur and Khairpur areas of Sindh. Interior Sindh is considered the stronghold of nationalists.
On the other hand, media reported that at least 50 nationalists have been arrested from Sukkur and Khairpur areas.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Awami National Party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have announced their complete support for the Saturday’s strike.
