Miranshah: United States unmanned drone fired multiple missiles in Pakistan’s tribal region of North Waziristan, leaving at least 20 people dead and several others injured in the wee hours of Wednesday.
The CIA-operated unmanned plane fired two missiles at a house in Gora Qabrustan area of Kharoni, Miran Shah, which borders Afghanistan.
The death toll may rise as some of the injured were said to be in critical condition.
A foreign news agency citing Pakistani security officials said the seven were associated with Haqqani Network.
North Waziristan and South Waziristan tribal regions of Pakistan have been frequently targeted by US drones over the past few years.
Thousands of people have been killed in the unsanctioned attacks.
Local sources said the unmanned US planes were still hovering over head in the area.
Today’s drone strike is the 46th in Pakistan since this year. To date, a total of 419 people have reportedly been killed in such strikes since the beginning of this year.
