Islamabad: As many as 19,000 Nato containers, meant for US-led forces stationed in Afghanistan, are feared missing and didn’t cross Afghan border, Federal Board of Revenue chief Salman Siddique submitted in the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday.
An SC bench was hearing the Nato and ISAF container case.The FBR submitted his report, stating that some 23882 containers were missing that inflicted losses up to 47 to 50 billion rupees to the national exchequer while 19000 Nato containers were also feared missing.
The report noted that notices have been issued to Shipping Companies and clearing agents and it was likely that 25 to 30 billion rupees would be recovered.
Later the hearing was put off for indefinite period.
