Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement Chief Altaf Hussain has said his party is against politics of confrontation and in order to avoid this all the parties should come forward to restore peace in the country.
He said for restoration of peace he has directed Ishratul Ibad to resume his responsibilities as Governor of Sindh because the country is passing through a crucial period.
Speaking to a gathering of MQM workers at Nine Zero, the party’s headquarters, on Wednesday, Hussain called upon political parties to work to eliminate politics of hatred and demonstrate unity.
He said America and other countries want to destabilize Pakistan’s military and intelligence agencies. He urged political parties that criticise Pakistan’s Army and ISI but within limits and always keep Pakistan’s national interest in mind.
Hussain said the MQM would sit in the opposition. Extending cooperation to other parties in the opposition, he urged them to respond with an open heart.
MQM chief congratulated the party’s supporters and workers on the victory of two MQM candidates in the AJK election and said the Kashmir cause should be resolved according to the aspirations of Kashmiri people. “Pakistan and India should solve the Kashmir issue on the negotiation table. War is not the solution to any problem.”
He called upon political parties not to turn any area into a “no go” area for others. He assured the government of his party’s support for all measures taken in the public interest. He asked the government to take steps to solve electricity and water problems.
