Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement has announced to hold a long march on Friday against worsening law and order situation in Pakistan’s financial hub Karachi.
Addressing a news conference on Thursday, MQM Rabta Committee member Raza Haroon said that the rally would march from the Karachi Press Club to the Chief Minister Sindh House.
He said the MQM will stage a peaceful protest on the floor of the National Assembly and the Senate, while a session of the Sindh Assembly will also be requisitioned.
Raza Haroon expressed grave concern on the rising incidents of firing and the loss of innocent lives in the city. He alleged that the Rangers and the police had been acting as silent spectators under instructions from the government.
Haroon dispelled the impression that two armed gangs were exchanging fire. “There is only one gang who has political support. It is that gang which is attacking houses of innocent people as well as transport,” he said.
He threatened that the MQM would explore all “democratic options” if the situation in Qasba Colony, Orangi Town and Gulfamabad was not improved, immediately.
