Swat: Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani has said that restoration of peace in Swat was a big challenge that was met by military operation.
Speaking at a seminar held here on Wednesday, the army chief said government’s writ had been challenged in the restive valley by the terrorists and the security forces restored it in just three months.
Kayani said the terrorists were in complete control of Swat valley and army officials sacrificed their lives to bring peace.
He added that the forces played key role in restoring peace in the region and would continue its efforts to eliminate terrorism.
The army chief said the forces facilitated 75 percent of displaced familiies during the military offensive against the terrorists.
