Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday dismissed transfer of former Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officer Zafar Qureshi and issued orders that the investigation of the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam be given to him.
An SC bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scandal case.
The bench directed the FIA director general to hand over the investigation to Qureshi and assist him in this regared.
The bench remarked that the officer had recovered Rs 1.75 billion into the case.
Earlier, Babar Awan appeared before the court on behalf of the three federal secretaries to who SC had issued contempt of court notices on not complying the court orders regarding the transfer of FIA officials.
Babar Awan told the court that the prime minister had rejected the summary into bringing back Zafar Qureshi into the investigation.
He said the government will defend the secretaries as they had not acted upon on their own.
The CJ that the government had not showed respect for institutions and humiliating the court orders. Justice Chaudhry the court was observing patience.
