Lahore: The Lahore High Court on Friday approved a petition for hearing, moved by Jamtut Dawa chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed against US drone attacks in Pakistan’s tribal region.
LHC Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed took up the petition of Jamatut Dawa chief for implementation of a resolution unanimously passed by the Parliament against US drone attacks on Pakistani soil.
Hafiz Saeed had filed the constitutional petition through his counsel A.K Dogar, praying that the federal government be directed to make public the information about all matters of public importance, especially the secret ‘deals’ with the US in implementation of article 19-A of the constitution which entitles every citizen of Pakistan to have access to information.
The petitioner requested the court to declare that the pre-emptive strikes by foreign countries were not permitted by international law, therefore, every man, woman and child had a right to claim to be protected and a direction in the nature of mandamus may be issued to the government.
