Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary has nominated Justice Javed Iqbal and Justice Saqib Nisar as heads of Abottabad and Saleem Shahzad commissions, respectively.
Chief Justice, Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday conducted the hearing of two important cases of Abottabad operation and Saleem Shahzad murder case. Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhary nominated Justice Javed Iqbal as head of Abottabad Commission while juctice Saqib Nisar would head Saleem Shahzad commission.
It is pertinent to mention here that Abottabad incident was took place on May 2 when US’ special commandos killed Osama bin Laden, residing in a compound near the main military academy of Pakistan, in a unilateral raid.
Saleem Shahzad, Asia Times online’s reporter, was found dead on May 29, two day after went missing from Islamabad. Journalist communities in Pakistan demanded the government to make an independent commission to probe the incident.
