Peshawar: At least 25 militants were killed as Pakistani paramilitary troops along with the Pakistan Air Force launched a joint operation in Mohmand Agency, Pakistan’s northwest tribal area, on Sunday.
According to ISPR statement, “After an intensive fight, troops were able to secure Walidad Top and surrounding areas of the mountain and managed to kill 25 terrorists, while remaining fled across the border.”
Four soldiers were also martyred and eight received injuries.
Local official sources earlier said three soldiers were killed and at least 13 wounded when dozens of Taliban stormed a check post in the region near the Afghan border. The attack was mounted in Baizai village of Mohmand Agency facing the eastern Afghan province of Kunar, local sources said.
“The militants, believed to be more than 50 and armed with light and heavy weapons, launched an attack on Walidad Kor post, triggering a battle that lasted about an hour,” the sources added.
