Islamabad: The Inter services Intelligence (ISI) on Friday in its rare response to a statement issued by Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Asma Jahngir, said the outfit was not responsible of removal of cell phone record of late journalist Saleem Shahzad.
A well placed ISI official who requested anonymity told a private television that Asma Jahangir should refrain from issuing such irresponsible statement against the agency. “She should refrain from presuming on the issue”, the official said. “The ISI has nothing to do with the Shahzad’s mobile phone’s record “ he said, adding that Asma Jahangir Should not have leveled allegations against the ISI.
Asma Jahangor while talking to media after appearing before the Supreme Court bench on behalf of the Pakistan Union of Journalist (PFUJ), seeking formation of a judicial commission into the killing of journalist Saleem Shahzad headed by an SC judge, said there was a single powerful agency in the county, could delete cell phone record of Shahzad and that was ISI.
