Washington: Initiatives are must to move Pakistan on right path, Chairman of the US House Intelligence Committee said.
While addressing at Strategic and International Study Center on Wednesday, Mike Rogers said Pakistan is not doing all which is necessary to become a US alliance. Pakistan has to ensure that difficulties would not be made in US Embassy operations.
Rogers who is Republican leader from Michigan said that elements in Pakistan’s military and intelligence services assisted Osama bin Laden before the US forces killed him in a compound in Abottabad. But, the US authorities have no evidences that Pakistan’s political leadership supported former al Qaeda chief, he added.
He also said Pakistan needed to be more transparent to reduce tension between both the countries. He said Pakistan has done well by apprehending some terrorists.
Earlier on Tuesday, Rogers said, “Now is the time to put more pressure on Pakistan to do the right thing.” Rogers said he considered Pakistan to be a “military with a country,” not a country with a military.
