Karachi: All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) leader and spokesperson to president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, Fawad Chaudhry, has said that attempts are being made to get General Musharraf convicted at any cost in Benazir murder case.
Talking to The News Tribe he said that he termed the case against General Musharraf as political, saying that such case are not settled in the court but in the political field.
Commenting on the court decision of declaring General Musharraf as proclaimed offender, he said these were false allegations against General Musharraf, which were based on a reported statement of Ijaz Shah and Javeed Cheema, but both of them had denied of giving any such statement. He said that General Musharraf was not responsible to provide security to Benazir at Liaqat Bagh, rather it was the responsibility of law enforcement agencies.
To a question he said that the incumbent rulers wanted to keep General Musharraf away from the country, therefore, they implicated him in a false case.
To another question, Fawad Chaudhry said that no one can even dare to arrest General (Retd) Musharaf upon his return to the country.
