Islamabad: The in-camera joint session of the parliament is underway here at Parliament House, as military top brass is briefing the parliamentarians regarding different aspects of the US unilateral raid on May 2 in Abbottabad, wherein Osama was killed.
As the country’s entire civilian and military leadership have gathered at the Parliament House, stringent security measures have been taken on the occasion. Media has been kept a kilometer away from the Parliament’s House.
Sources said that Air Chief is briefing the parliamentarians which will be followed by a briefing by Director General Inter Services Intelligence (ISI). Sources said at the very outset of the session, through a unanimously adopted motion the session was declared a special committee, as according to rules and regulation only president could address joint sitting of the parliament.
The session is being presided over by Deputy Speaker National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi as Speaker Dr Gahmida Mirza is not in the country.
Services chiefs, DG ISI besides other high ups of the military are attending the joint sitting .
