Peshawar: A US drone fired eight missiles in North Waziristan tribal region of Pakistan, killing 15 and injuring several people, sources said on Friday.
The sources said that the unmanned aircraft targeted a residential compound and a vehicle in Vatoi village of Datta Khel area near Afghan border.
The attack came at the time when the Pakistan’s army and the civil leadership are being harshly criticised in the backdrop of US operation in Abbottabad that led to killing of al-Qaeda Chief Osama bin Laden.
The US has been stepping up pressure against the nuclear nation and seeking clearance over the presence of world’s most wanted Qaeda chief within the walking distance from  Pakistan Army’s premier Kakul training academy.
Pakistan’s foreign office on Thursday had said that Pakistan had not been informed by the US regarding the operation, adding that when the military came to know about the presence of US troops in the area the US commandos have left the Pakistan’s air space.
