Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kayani has canceled his visit to Brussels to participate in Nato Chief of Staff meeting, in the wake of Osama Bin Laden’s death in Pakistan during a US troops operation in Abbottabad, less than two hours drive form Islamabad on late Sunday night.
Television reports said that the COAS was scheduled to leave for Brussels on Tuesday to take part in the Nato meeting that has now been canceled.
Pakistan military and civilian leadership remained silent hours after the killing of al Qaeda Chief, the alleged master mind of 9/11 attacks on the United States.
The Pakistan Army was not involved in the operation that was carried by US troops in a town, home to military’s academy. Pakistani foreign office had said that the operation was not a joint operation, adding it was according to US policy according to which the America willl kill Osama incase of having information about his presence anywhere.
