Karachi: At least four people were killed and another 56 were injured in twin blasts, targeting Pakistan Navy buses in two different parts of the city on Monday.
A motorcycle blew up near Pakistan Navy bus in the first blast in the Defence Phase II area of Karachi, killing two people, including a woman and injuring at least 17 people.
The explosion occurred near the College of Physicians and Surgeons at 7.20 am.
The second blast occurred near a Pakistan Navy bus in Baldia Town, killing one and injuring several people.
Rescue teams reached the spots and the injured were rushed to the PNS Shifa Hospital.The Rangers rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.
Pakistan Navy Spokesman told media that 2 people were killed including Sub Lieutenant Iqbal and a Lady doctor Nadia and 37 injured in Defence Phase blast while two people were killed and 19 were injured in Baldia town blast.The Two deceased were identified as Lieutenant Umar Farooq and Shareef.
Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Raja Umar Khattab while talking to media said that it seemed 4 kg explosive material was used in the Defence Phase II blast.
He said that bombs were detonated by remote-controlled or mobile phone devices.
Sources told The News Tribe a bomb of 10 kg was defused near the site of the Baldia town blast.
