Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Tuesday said that productive engagement with India was essential for both the countries to move towards the goal of establishing good-neighbourly relations.
While talking with Secretaries Foreign Affairs Salman Bashir and Secretary Commerce and Trade Zafar Mahmood, Gilani said that Pakistan wanted to move towards a comprehensive and broad-ranging engagement with India on the basis of equality, mutual trust, interest and respect. The discussed the forthcoming trade talks between Pakistan and India.
The Prime Minister asked the Secretary Commerce to take on board all the stakeholders for establishment of mutually beneficial trade relations with India.
The Secretary Commerce apprised the Prime Minister that Pakistan-India trade volume was around 2 billion dollars and 1946 items were being traded between the two countries. He also discussed details of the talk’s agenda with the Prime Minister.
