Islamabad: The Supreme of Court of Pakistan on Friday ordered Director General Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to conclude Haj scam probe whiten a week.
A six-judge bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing Suo motu case into Haj scam.
The FIA produces its report over the investigation into Haj scam. The bench while expressing its dissatisfaction over the slow pace of investigation observed that the investigation was still incomplete. The CJ remarked that the FIA officials those who were willing to work being transferred, hinting towards transfer of FIA officer Hussain Asghar who was transferred to Gilgit Baltistan as IGP.
The FIA informed the court that Asghar was not interested in the Haj scam probe and he had requested to be transferred. On this the CJ remarked that there was no question of interest and the officials of forces are bound to act on directions whether they are interested in or not. Â He observed that action should be taken against Asghar if he sought separation from the Haj scam probe.
The Chief Justice remarked that the court knew FIA Director Malik Muhammad Iqbal very well as he was involved in a criminal case.
The CJ observed that the court may have to summon Secretary Interior in the court..
Moreover Raja Irshad Advocate was appointed as Prosecutor in Haj scam case.
