Islamabad: UK has refused to hand over the former military dictator, Pervez Musharraf, who is wanted by a court in Benazir murder case and a trail court has already issued his non-boilable arrest warrant.
Musharraf, who was president when Benazir was killed in December 2007 in a gun and suicide bomb attack, is in self-imposed exile in London
The UK government has formally informed Pakistan Interior Ministry that the ex militardy dictator could not be handed over to Pakistan as UK and Pakistan has not extradition treaty to exchange accused.
Musharraf is alleged to have been part of a “broad conspiracy” to have his political rival killed before elections.
Benazir Bhutto was killed after addressing an election campaign rally in Rawalpindi, near the capital Islamabad, on December 27, 2007.
The Anti Terrorism Court, Rawalpindi had issued non-bailable arrest warrant of Musharraf and he could be arrested on arrival in Pakistan, as the warrant remained valid till its revoking by the court.
