Islamabad: A full bench of the Supreme Court took up a petition filed by the government against the court verdict of declaring National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) null and void.
During the hearing, the SC rejected an application by the government’s counsel Kamal Azfar, seeking withdrawal form the case. Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry remarked that the court would reject the review petition if he (Azfar) would not pursue the case.The CJ observed that the court had to follow law and the Constitution.
Additional Attorney General KK Agha asked the court to allow representing government in the case but was refused and was told to sit on the seat.
