Chennai: Chennai Super Kings beat Kolkta Knight Riders by two runs in the inaugurated match of Indian Premier League’s forth addition at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Friday.
Tim Southee, Ravichandran Ashvin, Suraj Randiv Shadab Jakati and Ruresh Raina picked up one wicket each.
Jacques Kallis scored 54 runs and remained top scorer from his side. Manoj Tiwari and M Bisla scored 27 runs each while L Shukla scored 14 runs.
Earlier, Chennai Super Kings Captain Mahindra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 153 runs in allotted 20 overs.
S Anirudha scored 64 runs while Suresh Raina shared 33 runs. MS Dhoni and Albie Morkel scored 29 and 15 runs respectively.
Jacques Kallis grabbed two wickets while Iqbal Abdullah and Yousuf Pathan took one wicket each.
