Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has summoned Punjab Chief Secretary and office bearers of Young Doctors Association (YDA) over the issue of doctors’ protest in Punjab on Friday.
Chief Justice (LHC) Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhryon Thursday remarked that the Punjab Government had failed to resolve the issue of doctors’ strike.
He observed that responsibility of the deaths caused by the doctors’ strike should be determined.
He said that health secretary should have resigned if he was not able to fulfill his duty.
He remarked that talks were being held after loss of several lives due to the prolonged strike .
Meanwhile, YDA agreed to resume duties in the hospitals after successful talks with the Punjab government.
The YDA ‘s has called of the strike after Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif assured that doctors’ problems would be addressed on priority basis.
According to YDA spokesman a committee headed by CM’s advisor Zulfiqar Khosa comprising representatives and the provincial government have been formed that would produce its recommendations to the chief minister regarding problems faced by the doctors.
He said that strike has been called of after the meeting with Shahbaz Sharif.
