Lahore: Pakistan limited overs cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has said that two to three new youngsters would be taken to upcoming West Indies and Zimbabwe tours, resting some senior players.
Talking to media here on Tuesday Afridi said that some senior players would be rested and it didn’t mean that they have been dropped.
He said that youngster should be provided with opportunity to explore new talent and the selection committee would chose the new players keeping in view their domestic performance.
Replying a query,31 year old all rounder said that Pakistan team needed a full time batting coach, ” and i think Javed Minadad is the best for the job”.Afrdi said that talks were underway with Miandad.
On a query he said that a player should not be pressurized to play unless he was not fit hundred percent.
Afridi said that he wanted to use Shoib Akhter in the world cup semi-final but he was not fit therefore Wahab Riaz was inducted, ” and have seen his performance”
He further said that vacuum of Akhter would not be easy to fill as he was among one of the best bowlers in the world.
