Karachi: The 32nd death anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, former prime minister of Pakistan and founding leader of PPP, would be observed coutry wide today (Monday), 04th April, with central activities taking place in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Larkana.
Sindh government has announced a public holiday in the province for the occasion, while Pakistan Peoples’ Party has made all arrangements for celebrating the event, which would also include Quranic recitations and offering fateha prayers (condolence prayers); while the event would conclude with joint prayers.
Various caravans of PPP have already started reaching in Garhi Khuda Buks, during which loud sloganeering for the deceased leader of PPP were also raised.
In account of possible terrorism threats during the occasion, the interior ministry has been known to have sent an official circular to Inspector General Police Sindh Fayyaz Leghari and police officers of Sukkur District expressing a possibility of firing/ attacks on PPP leaders, activists and general public in Larkana, Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Sukkur and Jacobabad.
Security over all such routes has been beefed up after this circular; especially in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh.
Meanwhile, Registrar Karachi University also announced that the university would remain close on Monday and all the papers scheduled on April 4 have been cancelled. New dates of cancelled paper would be announced later.
