Mohali: Indian Foreign Secretary Niropuma Rao has said that meeting between India and Pakistan prime ministers was successful, besides such type of talksĀ would help to reduce stress between both countries.
While addressing a press conference after the prime ministers meeting in Mohali she said both India and Pakistan are aimed to reduce tension between both the countries. She said Manmohan Singh had invited his Pakistani counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani on the eve of cricket World Cup semifinal between Pakistan and India.
Both the prime ministers have agreed to continueĀ such type of comprehensive discussion in future because such type of discussions would help to bring both the countries closer, she said.
It was decided in the meeting that both Pakistan and India should focus to resolve their internal problems in spite of whatever the problems of both countries are.
Indian prime minister appreciated his Pakistani counterpart for accepting his invitation and said ides of such meeting was gave by Gilani in Kathmandu. He said cricket has played vital role to unite both the nation.
He said both the countries should find paths to resolve their issues themselves.
Manmohan Singh said the message from Mohali meeting is, “people of Pakistan and India wanted to live with peace and harmony.”
On the occasion, Pakistani Prime Minister invited Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi, head of ruling Indian party, for of Pakistan tour.
