Kabul: The Taliban on Tuesday took control of a small capital of mountainous district, forcing police to move away from the area.
Police sources said that the Taliban militants took control of the main village in Waygal district during a pre-dawn attack.
They said that about 300 fighters took part in the episode, however no casualties occurred during the attack as police decided to retreat.
Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said that 12 police officials were also made hostages and their weapons were captured during the attack. “The Taliban met little resistance” he added.
