Islamabad: The Supreme Court On Tuesday issued detailed judgment into the National Accountability Bureau (Nab) chief appointment case.
In the judgment written by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa the SC ruled that meaningful consultation with the opposition leader in the National Assembly was mandatory into the appointment of Nab chief.
The SC observed that the appointment of Justice retired Deedar Hussain Shah was the violation of the Section 6 of the Nab law.
The verdict notid that appointment of Nab Chief was not discretionary power of the president.
The SC ruled that consultation with the chief justice was also necessary into the appointment of Nab chief.
The court directed the government to immediately appointment new Nab chief.
SC bench comprising Justice Javed Iqbal, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and Justice Raja Fayaz had hared the case and declared the appointment of Deedar Shah illegal in the short the short verdict.
