Ahmedabad: Australian captain Ricky Ponting has said that the four-wicket loss to Pakistan in the their last World Cup Group A game would compel him and the selectors to consider changes in the team line-up.
The defeat has snapped the defending champions’ 34-game unbeaten run in World Cup.
“When you play as poorly as we have . there’s no doubt there’ll be some discussion about the make-up,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Ponting, as saying.
“I’m not sure if there’ll be a lot of changes, but we certainly have to have a bit of a think about what we do and where we’re going,” he added.
The Australians are gearing up for a massive World Cup quarterfinal clash with India in Ahmedabad after the co-hosts clinched second spot in Group B with a win over West Indies.
