Peshawar: US drone fired four missiles at a residential compound in Pakistan’s North Wazirstan tribal region, killing at least 41 and injuring several people, sources said on Thursday.
The sources said that the unmanned aircraft targeted a tribes men were attending a Jirga (meeting) in Dattta Khel Tehsil of North Waziristan.
The attack took place a day after release of a CIA contractor Raymond Davis who killed two Pakistanis in Lahore January 27.
Riots broke out in the streets of Pakistan following the release of Davis.A large number of people took to the streets and blocked the roads by setting tyres on fires and marched towards US Consulate in Lahore .
Police restored to baton-charge and injuring several people including a reporter of private TV channel, who was covering the event.
The Davis issued had strained diplomatic ties between the US and Pakistan.
