Washington: United States White House spokesman Monday said that work is under progress to make Libya no-fly zone.
Jay Carney said that all the options are under consideration including military operation in Libya but sending is not the top of the list at this point.
He said lists of Col Muammar Gaddafi’s rivals groups are being collected. It is being discussed to provide weapon to anti-Gaddafi groups, he added.
Carney said the US wanted to act in concert with allies at NATO and the United Nations. “We are being very careful about how we go about this process,” he said.
The Libyan uprising is less than a month old, Carney said, and many of the options under discussion can’t be put in place overnight.
He praised the speed of the international community in slapping sanctions on Gadhafi’s government, and in providing humanitarian assistance to Libyan rebels.
