Peshawar: An oil tanker was blown up near Taj market here on Thursday.
Sources said that a fire erupted following the blast, which engulfed adjacent Taj market and destroyed at least 10 shops.
Police and fire tenders rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. After three-hour hectic efforts the fire brigade succeeded to douse the fire. Police said that cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, however, sources said that the oil tanker caught fire after an explosion, adding that a bomb was planted in the tanker.
Nato oil tankers carrying fuel for the US led forces stationed in Afghanistan are frequently targeted in Pakistan by the Taliban militants.
