Washington/Tripoli: Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki Mon has urged the Security Council of the UN to take strict notice over the situation of Libya over the violation of humanitarian law and losses of lives.
He said Libyab government has failed to resolve the issues of the people and now it is the responsibility of international community to come forward and resolve the issue of Libya.
Ban Ki Mon said that Security Council should take strict action against those who were found guilty for violating humanitarian laws so as to assure implementation on human rights laws in Libya. He said hundreds of people have been lost their lives in Libya which is a matter of grave concern for the whole world.
Meanwhile, White House spokesman Jay Carney has said that the United States Embassy has stop working in Libya. He said the US has decided to impose sanctions on Libya owing to deteriorating condition in Libya.
He said the US condemned Muammar Gaddafi’s crackdown on protesters who were raising voice for their rights.
Later, US President Barack Obama signed the bill regarding sanctions on Libya. He said Gaddafi violated the human rights laws in the county.
Obama said Gaddafi would have to face international community regarding its policies. He said the cause of the sanctions is to save the assets of Libyans.
Gadddafi’s son Saif-ul-Islam Gaddafi has said that last chanced is being given to extremist for table talk.
At the other hand, the Libyan delegation to the UN resigned links to the
government of Gaddafi on Friday, joining a growing number of
defectors dismayed by the Libyan leader’s bloody crackdown on a popular
uprising. Announcement was made by Adel Shaltut, a diplomat at Libyan
delegation in Geneva.
Diplomats in the hall erupted in applause at the surprise announcement by
Adel Shaltut, a diplomat at Libya’s delegation to the UN in Geneva, that
his entire delegation now represented the “free will” of the Libyan people.
“We in the Libyan mission have categorically decided to serve as
representatives of the Libyan people and their free will. We only represent
the Libyan people,” he told the 47-member UN Human Rights Council, which
is holding a special session on the Libyan crisis.
