New Delhi: Senior Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Gilani has said that the people of Kashmir have pledged to take the ongoing liberation movement to its logical conclusion despite all odds.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Gilani in a statement issued in
New Delhi said that the use of brute force by the occupation authorities could not prevent the Kashmiri people from raising their just voice for their right to self-determination.
Rejecting the statement of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that India was a functional democracy where citizens enjoyed all rights, Gilani said that India was violating human rights in the occupied territory on a large scale.
He said that Indian troops killed more than hundred innocent Kashmiri youth, injured large number of peaceful protesters and sent many more to jails during the last year’s uprising.
Giliani said that Kashmiris had given matchless sacrifices for the Kashmir cause. He urged international rights groups to take notice of the deplorable condition of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists including Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi, Mian Abdul Qayoom and Aasiya Andrabi and demanded their immediate release.
